What looks like a simple patio at the end actually began as a serious site-preparation project. Large buried rocks had to come out, the grade had to be corrected, drainage had to be installed, and the patio base had to be built properly before any pavers could go down.
NERP handled the process from excavation through finished hardscape installation. The result is a patio and walkway that look clean on the surface because the heavy work underneath was done correctly first.
The finished project includes a paver patio, a connected walkway, small retaining borders, corrected grading, and drainage integrated into the build.

This Dover project started with an uneven outdoor area that needed major site preparation before any hardscape work could begin. NERP used an excavator to remove large buried boulders, open the ground, and create the space needed for the new patio and walkway layout.
Excavation was not a cosmetic step here. It was the foundation of the whole build, making room for drainage work, a proper base, regrading, and the final paver installation.

Drainage, Rough Grading & Base Preparation
Once the boulders and excess soil were removed, the site had to be shaped correctly. NERP regraded the area, made room for the hardscape build, and integrated drainage so water could be handled properly instead of collecting around the house and patio edge.
Below the finished pavers is the work most people never see: excavation depth, drainage piping, fill, gravel, sand, and careful compaction. That invisible preparation is what helps the finished patio stay stable and perform over time.

Building the Base, Setting the Edge & Installing the Pavers
With the site opened and drainage in place, the patio build moved into installation. The base materials were filled and compacted in layers, edge work and retaining elements were formed, and the paver field began to take shape.
