Recent work in Marblehead

Two Real Projects. Two Very Different Transformations.

Marblehead’s housing ranges from antique colonials and gambrels in Old Town to shingled coastal homes, mid-century houses, and properties renovated many times over several generations.

Working here often means solving moisture, insulation, old framing, plaster, uneven floors and walls, tight access, and outdated systems—then making the new work look as though it belongs in the house.

The projects below show both sides of that work: a full bathroom build documented from design and rough construction through tile and completion, and a nearly century-old unfinished basement transformed into a comfortable family room used every day.

Marblehead project 01

Full Bathroom Build — Design to Completion

This Marblehead bathroom project is documented from the initial design visualization through rough plumbing, floor and wall preparation, tile installation, fixture work, glass, vanity, lighting, and final completion.

The finished bathroom combines large-format wave-pattern wall tile, a detailed mosaic floor, black fixtures and hardware, glass shower panels, a modern vanity, and integrated lighting. The progression photographs show the construction underneath the final surfaces—not only the polished result.

Bathroom craftsmanship is easiest to judge in the details: alignment, tile transitions, penetrations, corners, fixture placement, glass, trim, and the way every component meets the next one.

Marblehead project 02

From an Unfinished Basement to a Family Room Used Every Day

This basement was inside a nearly 100-year-old Marblehead home and had never been usable living space. Before finish work began, NERP addressed water and moisture concerns, waterproofed the basement, and installed an elevated subfloor system to help protect the finished floor.

The project then moved through the elevated subfloor, rigid foam insulation, wall framing, batt insulation, electrical upgrades, drywall installation and finishing, paint preparation, laminate flooring, recessed lighting, decorative ceiling panels, doors, closets, trim, baseboards, finished stairs, and a new stair railing.

The result is a bright, warm family room that feels like a natural extension of the home rather than an old basement.

Marblehead renovation questions

Do you handle permits with the Marblehead Building Department?

Yes. NERP coordinates the applicable permits and inspections for projects that require them. Licensed construction supervision and licensed electrical and plumbing professionals handle their required responsibilities.

Can an older Marblehead basement become comfortable living space?

Often, yes, but moisture, floor systems, insulation, mechanical equipment, ceiling height, access, and egress must be evaluated first. The Marblehead project shown above began with moisture protection and an elevated subfloor before walls and finishes were installed.

Can you complete a bathroom from rough construction through final tile and fixtures?

Yes. The Marblehead bathroom shown above documents the process from design and rough plumbing through floor and wall preparation, tile, fixtures, vanity, glass, lighting, and completion.
