Deck Builder — North Shore of Massachusetts
30+ Years Experience • Massachusetts HIC Registered • CSL Licensed • Fully Insured • Free Estimates
A deck in New England has to survive nor’easters, salt air, snow load, and July sun. We build wood and composite decks across the North Shore engineered for exactly that — and within sight of the ocean, material choices matter more than most homeowners are told.
Local building permits are handled when required, with code-compliant frost-depth footings based on the approved design and site conditions, proper ledger flashing and structural connections, and railings built to applicable Massachusetts code. Igor personally quotes and plans every project, works on site, and inspects every stage of every job — including the work of licensed electricians and plumbers. If something isn’t right, it gets corrected. Nothing gets covered up, closed in, or signed off until he has approved it.
What deck construction includes
- Composite decks: Trex, TimberTech and comparable systems
- Pressure-treated and cedar decks
- Deck rebuilds and replacements
- Code-compliant frost-depth footings per the approved design
- Proper ledger flashing and structural connections
- Stairs, railings, lighting
- Porches and small outdoor structures
Wood or composite — the honest comparison
Pressure-treated wood costs meaningfully less on day one and needs regular care — cleaning, sealing or staining — to stay looking good, and near salt air it works harder to do so. Composite (Trex, TimberTech and comparable systems) costs more up front, and then mostly leaves you alone: no staining, no splinters, color that holds. Over a decade of ownership the gap narrows; which side wins depends on how you value your Saturdays. Ask and we’ll price the same deck both ways.
Built for coastal air
The failures you see on North Shore decks — corroded fasteners, rotted ledgers, wobbly rails — are usually hardware and flashing failures, not decking failures. Near the ocean we spec corrosion-resistant fasteners and hardware suited to the exposure, flash the ledger properly so water never sits against the house, and build the connections the way the approved plans call for. It’s the part of the deck you’ll never see, and the part that determines how long it lasts.

Deck questions homeowners ask
How much does a new deck cost on the North Shore?
Deck pricing depends on: size, the condition of any existing framing, footing requirements, site access, wood versus composite decking, railing style, stairs, lighting, and permit/design requirements. Send photos of the space and you’ll have an honest ballpark within 24–48 hours.
Can you rebuild on my existing frame?
Sometimes — if the framing, ledger, and footings are genuinely sound, re-decking an existing frame saves real money. We inspect honestly and tell you which parts can stay and which can’t. What we won’t do is put new decking over a compromised structure.
When should I book a spring deck?
Late winter. Permits, design, and material lead times mean the decks people enjoy in May were booked in February.
Do you handle permits?
Yes — local building permits are handled when required, and the deck is built to the approved plans and inspected.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Massachusetts HIC registered and CSL licensed, with liability insurance and workers’ compensation for our crew. Certificates provided with your estimate, before you ask. How to verify any Massachusetts contractor →
